How we work, how we ensure quality, and how you can help us improve.
Villages Italy was born with a clear mission: to decentralise mass tourism and bring travellers back to Italy’s small villages, where every visit leaves value with the community that hosts it. This page transparently explains how we work, how we ensure the quality of our content, and how you can help us improve it.
Some of our texts are written with the support of artificial intelligence tools, used as writing and research assistants. Every piece is then reviewed and edited by our editorial team, which takes full editorial responsibility before publication. AI lets us tell the story of the thousands of Italian villages that would otherwise go unheard; human oversight remains our standard, not an exception.
Our principle is simple and non-negotiable: we do not publish invented information. Facts are checked against reliable sources — Wikipedia, official websites of municipalities, regions and the Ministry of Culture, dioceses and parishes for matters of worship, universities and verifiable publications. If a fact is uncertain, we remove it or flag it as such: we prefer a more sober text to unconfirmed information. An automated check, alongside the editorial team, blocks publication until any unverified statements are resolved.
We use images under open licences (Creative Commons, public domain) or our own, indicating author and licence where due. All references are gathered on our credits page.
We care deeply about accuracy, but no system is perfect. If you notice an error, an imprecise fact, a photo that needs reviewing or a missing credit, write to us: we will check and correct it as soon as possible.
Alternatively, you can use our Contact page. Thank you for helping us keep Villages Italy accurate and trustworthy.
